CASE STUDY: A new slate roof in Hersham, Surrey

Even if your home has traditional roofing, when the time comes to update it, there are lots of modern roof materials to choose from. This includes slates, which are one of the most attractive roof designs on the market.

Earlier this year, we were hired to carry out extensive roofing work at this property in Hersham in Surrey.

ROOFING SERVICE: Slate roof replacement, chimney removal and new guttering

We attended this old property to assess its current slate roofing, as it had multiple recurring issues. After a detailed roof inspection, we recommended a full roof and guttering replacement. The existing materials and structures were severely damaged and deteriorated, so repairs were no longer a cost-effective option.

We provided a free roof report and competitive quote, and the client opted for new slate roofing to replace the old materials and a gutter upgrade. They also requested a double chimney removal for two that weren’t in use, as they were causing lots of issues, such as leaks and crumbling brickwork.

THE RESULTS

We performed a complete roof replacement with long-lasting slates, ensuring the home was now watertight. This involved the careful stripping of the existing slate roofing, battens and felt before installing new Spanish roof slates. These beautiful slates have added an attractive aesthetic to the property, grey in tone and known for their strength and resilience. We replaced the home’s guttering and downpipes to ensure rainwater will be efficiently transported away from the property. Our team also carefully removed the two unwanted chimney stacks, erecting our own scaffolding before the work began.
