CASE STUDY: Reroofing a pitched roof in Ashtead

Eventually, every roof will come to the end of its lifespan, as materials like tiles, slates and flashing face an abundance of harsh elements. ROOFING SERVICE: New tiles for an old roof

This Ashtead resident contacted South Thames Roofing after becoming concerned about the number of problems she was getting with her old pitched roof. The property was built in the 1930s, and while the roofing had been updated since then, it was coming to the end of its lifespan. Roof issues included recurring leaks after stormy weather and damaged tiles that were coming loose.

After inspecting the roof and providing a free quote, the client hired us for the job, scheduling the reroofing project at a convenient time for all parties. We also worked closely with our customer to choose new tiles in keeping with their property, as they wanted the tiles to be sympathetic to the old materials.

THE RESULTS

To reroof the property, we stripped back the pitched roofing, carefully removing the old and disintegrating tiles, which would be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner. We also installed a new breathable membrane, providing an additional barrier between the home and elements.

We then renewed the roof using the brand-new tiles, which our customer picked the design of. This has given the outside of the property a complete uplift, ensuring the roof looks cleaner and more attractive while retaining the style of the original tiles. We also replaced the flashing around areas like the chimney to ensure the new tiles were watertight.
